Onken Frufoo Yoghurts

Onken Frufoo the Yoghurt that Came with a Toy

Who remembers eating a Yoghurt in the 1990’s that came with a toy? If that’s you then you are probably thinking of the Onken Frufoo yoghurt.

The Onken Frufoo Yoghurt

The Onken Frofoo was a fromage frais style strawberry yoghurt that came in a UFO shaped plastic container and came with a toy. It was basically like a Kinder Surprise but in a yoghurt form. They were at their height of popularity in the 90s.

They were produced by the German dairy company Onken.

The Toys that Came with the Yoghurt

Each yoghurt came with a cheap plastic toy that was found in the centre of the UFO shaped pot with the yoghurt gooey yoghurt stored around the edges.

The toys were usually a small plastic figure. Various characters of different shapes and looks were included over the years. You can still find the figures to buy on EBay.

A few examples of the toys are shown below.

The TV Ads

A television advert was released in Germany in 1994 that is very interesting to watch. You can see that the yoghurt pot is definitely shaped to look like a UFO or spaceship. You will also see some of the plastic figures that you could collect.

The main character in the advertisement seems to be an alien too. Take a look at it below.
